Period euphemisms from around the world: menstrual words you didn't know
The period-tracking app Clue conducted a survey back in 2016 involving 90,000 people across 190 countries. The app asked participants about their favorite period euphemisms — resulting in a list of 5,000 different phrases, each with their own uniqueness.
In Denmark, one of the common phrases for a period is "there are communists in the funhouse." In Finland, people prefer the term "mad cow disease." Somewhere in the world people refer to periods as "birthing a blood diamond," but the origin for that specific period slang term was unknown.
